Close the root valve of the vaporization level gauge during furnace drying

I’ve seen the root valve of the level gauge in the gasifier being closed during furnace drying, with only one level gauge left in use for this purpose. What is the reason for doing this? (The negative pressure was 0.7 KPa, and it eventually reached -1.7 KPa.)
For furnace drying, we use direct exhaust here.
Do you close the root valve of the level gauge for direct discharge systems? Ours is closed
The purpose of turning it off is to prevent damage to the diaphragm at the pressure measurement point of the level gauge. If a vacuum-resistant diaphragm was used when selecting the level gauge, then what difference does it make whether it is turned off or not?
What are the requirements regarding negative pressure? What level of negative pressure is required in order to close the root valve of the level gauge?
