May I ask: Which are the major potassium sulfate manufacturers in China? What is its production capacity approximately?
Nanfeng Chemical has a large potassium sulfate production facility
There are several large potash fertilizer production bases in Qinghai
As far as I know, there are Qingshang Chemical, Weifang Yinfeng, Ningxia, and Lop Nur. The imports generally come from Russia, Belarus, Germany, and the Philippines
They are available in Tianjin, Sichuan, Guangdong, Ganzhou in Jiangxi, Shifang and Dechang in Sichuan, Handan in Hebei, Panjin, Changchun, Tongliao in Inner Mongolia, Jilin City, and Qiqihar. The capacity of those in Changchun is around 40,000 tons, while the rest have a capacity of around 20,000 tons; all of them are produced using the Mannheim process.
The latest, largest, best, cheapest, and highest-quality one is undoubtedly Non-Lobugumo! Natural potassium sulfate ore! Most of the rest are from Seisho Chemical!
May I ask: what is the production capacity of the potassium sulfate plant at Nanfeng Chemical? What is the actual output then?
This post was last edited by yulin1973 on 2010-3-12 at 21:59. Jilin City initially had a production capacity of 20,000 tons; it increased to 40,000 tons later, but it seems to have stopped now :) The process is the same as that used by Qingshang Chemical. Currently, in China, the main company responsible for exporting the Mannheim process technology is Dalian Boda Company
Nanfeng Chemical’s potassium sulfate was no longer produced due to cost issues and corporate restructuring; it carried the brand name \"Yun\", and it enjoyed a good reputation in Yuncheng. It used to be sold throughout the country as well. There is still some stock in the warehouse, but the price is very high, far above current market prices. Currently, the company with the highest domestic production using the aqueous-salt process is SDIC Luojiu. As for the process based on non-aqueous salts (90% of which involve the Mannheim furnace method), Qingshang leads in terms of production volume (including facilities in Tianjin, Guangdong, Sichuan, etc.); Migo Group is another major player. Additionally, Gansu Xinchuan has also emerged as a rising force in the potassium sulfate industry. The annual production is 100,000 tons.
Currently, the potassium sulfate production methods in actual use in China can be divided into two major categories, comprising approximately 8 different processes. The two main categories are: the process using potassium-containing minerals and the potassium chloride conversion process. The processes for producing potassium sulfate from potassium-containing minerals include the sulfate-type potassium-rich brine method (salt lake brine method) and the alunite reduction pyrolysis-alkali method. The former has established a production capacity of 1.2 million tons at SDIC Xinjiang Potash. The latter used to produce potassium sulfate with a 33% content (meeting the standards set by the former Ministry of Chemical Industry), but stopped production due to cost and other factors. The main production processes for the potassium chloride conversion method include the Mannheim process, which encompasses the Qingshang process and the Nissha process; the Qingshang process has enabled a production capacity of over 600,000 tons in China, while the Nissha process is a technical system introduced by the former Yunnan Phosphate Fertilizer Factory (Sanhuan) ; The mirabilite method is a technique from Nanfeng in Shanxi, with a production capacity of 160,000 tons; it has been shut down. Ammonium sulfate method: Beijing Xinping Fertilizer Factory once built a plant with a capacity of 15,000 tons ; Successively, four enterprises including Yunnan Jiehua and Yantai Fertilizer adopted this technology, but they ceased operations due to its inadequate performance ; A comprehensive utilization plant for bittern has been built in Shandong Haihua with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons, and it has not been expanded to date ; The \"high-efficiency and energy-saving technology for extracting potassium sulfate from seawater\", developed jointly by Hebei University of Technology and other institutions, has also passed evaluation; however, no industrial plants have been put into operation as of yet. Based on production capacity, the major domestic producers (groups) of potassium sulfate at present are: SDIC Luoyang Potash: 1.2 million tons, Qingshang Chemical (Group, using the Mannheim process). This includes approximately 600,000 tons from holding companies such as those in Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Foshan, Zhuzhou, Qingdao, Huizhou, and Kaifeng, as well as companies with partial ownership interests such as those in Shandong, Sichuan Chuanhua, Guizhou, and Hubei Xiangqing; while the Michael Group (using the Mannheim process) accounts for approximately 140,000 tons, including companies like Sichuan Michael, Guangdong Gaoming Michael, and Liaoning Yingkou Michael.
Reply to 10# tianyagulv: I would like to ask you, what is the price difference between potassium sulfate produced by these two processes? Which manufacturing process yields products with greater market competitiveness?
