It’s a new project for the company, and a control system solution needs to be determined. There are two suppliers, both proposing solutions using Siemens PLCs; however, one of them claims that only PLCs from the S7-400 series can be used for batch processing, as the 300 series won’t work； One person said that I can use SIMATIC Batch with an S7-300. Obviously, one of them is a true statement while the other is a lie. I’d appreciate it if someone could tell me what the experts at HaiChuan have to say… Thank you all!
Simatic Batch is an enhancement package for Simatic PCS7; the minimum configuration required for the AS in PCS7 is 414-3 – it’s up to you to decide whether that’s sufficient!
This post was last edited by jessehjx on 2010-3-11 09:03. The S7-300 can also be used with WinCC to implement some of the functions available in Simatic Batch. It depends on the specific requirements. In a real project, not all the functions of Simatic Batch are utilized.
I found one called SIMATIC Batch for WinCC, which seems to be able to be used with S7-300 series PLCs. But I’m not sure myself.

Available in CLASS A, 2 languages (German, English); can be executed under XPPROF/WINSRV2003. Reference hardware: IL4X. The listed price is over 60,000; it may be necessary to purchase WinCC 6.2 as well – I haven’t used it before, so I’m not entirely sure. It’s best to consult Siemens’ technical staff.

PCS7 Batch can only be used in a PCS7 environment; for PCS7, a CPU with model number 414-3 or higher is required. In fact, when using SFC for batch processing, it consumes a lot of memory, so basically a CPU with model number 416-2 or higher is necessary to make it work properly. For redundant systems, a CPU with model number 417H is required to function adequately. WinCC Batch is a new product; it does not require PCS7 – only a WinCC environment is needed to operate it. However, WinCC Batch also has minimum requirements: your CPU must be at least a 315-2DP model. Even if it seems possible to use it with a CPU lower than 315-2DP, the memory will almost always be fully occupied. Currently, AS BU already has projects using WinCC Batch in the tobacco industry and the pharmaceutical industry. The price for Simatic batch for WinCC, in a set of 10 units, is 11,838 euros; therefore, the estimated purchase cost is around 60,000–70,000 RMB.
It can only be used with S7-400, and there are not many application instances.
