Does anyone know what is the best material for the large gasket between the graphite jackets when disassembling and inspecting the graphite hydrochloric acid synthesis furnace? We usually use EPDM rubber, but it still doesn’t feel good and is a bit intolerant of high temperatures and often leaks. # hcbbs
It is absolutely possible to use expanded PTFE tape. Remember to clean the sealing surface and align the interfaces properly.
Rubber gaskets can be used for the large gaskets between the graphite jackets. Generally, there are no major problems in areas in contact with water. It is recommended to use PTFE gaskets. The cost of using expanded PTFE is too high.
