According to the relevant policies, every employee has the right to annual leave. However, in our factory, many positions are filled by only one person; if that person takes annual leave, there will be no one to work. Additionally, our technical department already has a small staff, and if employees take annual leave, most of the work will come to a halt. I’d like to ask everyone to share their ideas on how to solve this problem.
In our factory, annual leave is now basically mandatory for employees in operational positions on an annual basis, although there are many outstanding balances from previous years. Those in management positions really don’t get much annual leave.
We’re a private company; annual leave is just a dream
For annual leave, if it is coordinated, one doesn’t get triple pay for not taking it; the same applies to covering shifts – triple pay is also not given in that case. So presumably there are people willing to cover shifts.
Our company, based on the nature of the workshops and the difficulty level of the tasks involved, trains 1–2 versatile employees who are capable of performing various job duties. They work on regular shifts to assist the workers in the workshops with their daily tasks, and step in to cover shifts when someone takes annual leave. The team leader’s annual leave is taken by the section chief. Engineering and technical staff also rotate positions; others can take their place when on leave. For major or complex issues, the technical department and the chief engineer are available to assist in finding solutions. Our company does a pretty good job regarding annual leave
Our factory wasn’t properly organized at first, with incomplete systems; we are gradually establishing them now, and we look forward to having annual leave.
In this case, the factory can arrange for several people to take shifts on behalf of others, so that they can take annual leave.
Hehehe, annual leave is a legal right granted to employees. However, in practice there are many practical difficulties, as mentioned by many colleagues. Still, it’s important to develop the mindset and take action to become a versatile worker – so that when I am on leave, you can take over my duties, and when I’m working, you can handle mine. That is the most practical and ideal approach.
