My unit is currently equipped with a low-pressure flare at the ground level; it was designed to use high-pressure methane as fuel, but in actual operation, the fuel gas supplied to it comes from the recycled exhaust gases from other units. The composition of the recovered exhaust gas is approximately 32% propane, 36% butylene, and 32% isobutane. Due to the heavy nature of these components, they condense easily into a liquid phase, causing the pilot light to go out repeatedly. Currently, plans are in place to add heat tracing to the fuel pipeline so that the recovered exhaust gas vaporizes before reaching the pilot light. Is this approach feasible? Furthermore, due to the addition of fuel gas to aid combustion, a large amount of black smoke is generated during torch operation. Can I introduce nitrogen or steam into the torch pipeline to reduce the smoke?
Add a liquid phase separation tank before the flare; installing heating elements may be costly, and it will also pose maintenance difficulties in the future. The presence of black smoke is due to incomplete combustion, and adding nitrogen or steam will not improve the situation.
Adding an enterprise separation tank before the flare allows for the separation of a portion of the liquid. Adding a bit of steam can improve the combustion effect. 1# dayongqi

A gas-liquid separation tank can be installed before the flare to recover some of the combustible gas; simultaneously, superheated steam is introduced at the base of the flare to heat the combustible gas fed into it, helping it to disperse evenly for better combustion and preventing the formation of black smoke. Heating is not recommended.
Lz is referring to the fuel gas line for the everlasting light. Liquefied gas is generally used as fuel, so it will not freeze and get clogged in winter even in the absence of heat tracing. Actually, the simplest approach is to use the gas phase from the fuel gas separation tank in conjunction with a pipeline. Of course, if no changes are desired, installing a heating pipeline can effectively prevent freezing and blockages. The black smoke is negligible; it’s just a very small amount. However, the permanent light is intended to ensure the safety of the torch system during abnormal operations, and it is recommended to use a lightweight fuel. 1. It is recommended to use a lightweight fuel as the gas for the permanent flame. 2. A filter should be installed on the pipeline supplying gas to the permanent flame. 3. Heat tracing should be added to the fuel gas pipeline. 4. Multiple ignition torches should be used. 5. Medium-pressure steam is generally used as the steam for smoke suppression in the torches
Personally, I think a smoke removal device is necessary, as it is a heavy hydrocarbon that requires a large amount of air, resulting in very incomplete combustion. But nitrogen cannot be used; only air and steam can be used!
