Are vacuum valves and vacuum gauges absolutely necessary for rough vacuum and low vacuum systems?

For rough vacuum and low vacuum systems, ordinary valves and ordinary pressure gauges were commonly used in the past. Vacuum valves can reduce air leakage and enable more accurate measurements with a vacuum gauge, but they are more expensive. How should one make a more reasonable choice considering everything?
We also use ordinary valves and pressure gauges, but they come with digital displays to ensure accuracy. As for the use of vacuum valves, it depends on whether the required level of vacuum can be achieved; if not as much vacuum is needed, using a vacuum valve would be a waste. The choice should be based on the requirements of the device. There is no rule requiring the use of vacuum valves and vacuum gauges.
When we use 2-stage Roots pumps, we still employ ordinary valves; vacuum valves are only used during the molecular distillation process
