Our catalytic cracking unit’s waste heat boiler generates medium-pressure steam at a rate of 13 t/h. The Na+ ion level was consistently above the normal range (30–50 μg/l) in the early stages; now the Na+ ion level is within the normal range, but the conductivity remains high, at around 6–7 μS/cm. What could be the reason for this? I would appreciate advice from experts. Thank you!
The levels of salts or other impurity ions are above the limit; pay attention to improving wastewater discharge controls.
A conductivity sensor continuously monitors changes in the concentration of the boiler water. There are changes in the boiler water and water quality; check the water treatment or observe changes in the gas load.
Test the quality of the boiler feed water; if it exceeds the standards, take measures to improve it. If it is within the standards, increase the frequency of boiler blowdown.
Increase wastewater discharge and pay attention to load changes. Also, OP, is the water in your furnace condensate circulation water? If it is circulation water, it would be helpful to provide a diagram of the circulation system.
Reply to Nanjing Lao Gui: Our boiler feed water is deoxygenated water obtained from water treatment, and it supplies two sets of catalytic waste heat boilers to produce medium-pressure steam at 3.9 MPa. The water quality has been analyzed multiple times, and no issues were found.
If the salt content in the steam increases, the feedwater conditions should be taken into consideration
