Methanation is good, and alcohol hydrocarbonization, including the copper washing process of the older process, can only release trace amounts of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. A large amount of carbon dioxide is mainly released through decarbonization.
It is generally more economical to control CO+CO2 below 0.7 at the methanation inlet. After all, hydrogen is consumed and the process is simple.
