What does DIA mean when it is added after the dimensions in American standard drawings?

I would like to ask what it means when the dimension on a US standard drawing is followed by DIA ? ? ?
maybe it means “diameter”.
It might refer to “diameter”; if so, it means diameter. Haha, I don’t quite understand!
DIA should represent diameter; aside from diameter, it’s not included in the dimensions listed on the American standard drawings I’ve seen

DIA is a European standard; I’m not exactly sure about the details, and there’s very little information on this standard available on websites
