Shōwa Denko of Japan stated recently that its joint venture in Quzhou, Zhejiang, namely Juhua Shōwa Electronic Chemical Materials, is currently building a new facility in Quzhou capable of producing 5,000 tons per year of high-purity ** products; this facility is expected to begin operations in August 2010. The new facility will receive **raw materials** from Zhejiang Juhua Group’s joint venture partners, and use Showa Denko’s purification technology to produce high-purity products. High-purity **is primarily used as a solvent for removing photoresist during the production of semiconductor and liquid crystal display panels. Showa Denko states that as integrated circuit production becomes increasingly miniaturized, there is a growing demand for high-purity ** as a photoresist remover. Zhejiang Quzhou Juhua Showa Electronic Chemical Materials Joint Venture was established in 2008; Showa Denko holds 51% of the shares, while Zhejiang Juhua Company under the Juhua Group and its subsidiary Zhejiang Jinju Chemical Company hold 20% and 29% of the shares respectively.
