The K-type thermocouples used in one of our plants’ incinerators often burn out (at around 950 degrees Celsius). Is this a quality issue? Is it still an installation issue? We are using high-temperature-resistant thermocouples produced by Jiangsu Jin Gong; do any experts have any better suggestions, either regarding the installation method or other manufacturers?
It’s normal for thermocouples to burn out frequently; the protective sleeves used these days are generally not very good quality. It is best to choose products from well-known manufacturers, and ask about the specific environmental requirements for their use. Also, consider whether some installation locations are reasonable. Some may be caused by excessive coking
Why not try comparing different manufacturers?
Use ceramic or silicon carbide protective tubes. It is normal for the stainless steel protective tube to burn out.

I plan to order two to try them out first.
Stainless steel seems to not be able to withstand such high temperatures; it’s better to choose a reputable manufacturer, clearly state your requirements, so that you can turn to them if there are any problems.
Consider using sleeves made of high-temperature ceramics or corundum; we use corundum for the furnace temperature in our facility, and it has been in use for a long time.
It might be a problem with the thermocouple you chose; ideally, high-temperature thermocouples should not be made of stainless steel.
