In the case of a vertical vessel that is tested horizontally in the workshop, the test pressure should correspond to the design pressure adjusted for the static head when the vessel is in a vertical position. It must be ensured that no part of the vessel will experience higher stresses when tested vertically in the field, in its corroded state, than those it experiences during its initial test.
