That’s too general. Be more specific, like those involved in production? Designed? Precise? Petrochemical? For chemical processing equipment?

Is the alkali plant owned by Bohai Chemical Group?

Tianjin Alkali Factory, Tianjin Chemical Plant, and Dagu Chemical are all part of the Bohai Group. The Bohai Group originated from the Tianjin Chemical Bureau; most of the state-owned chemical enterprises in Tianjin that are not part of Sinopec belong to the Bohai Group. I don’t know exactly how to get in; I think it’s either through a chemical engineering program at a prestigious university or by having connections.

The treatment at Bohai Group is relatively poor, and the environment there is also shady – it’s a typical old state-owned enterprise. Those who plan to go in should be mentally prepared.

Given your level, as far as design is concerned, Tianchen Design Institute is probably the best option; you probably wouldn’t even consider other smaller design institutes. Chemical companies such as Dagu Chemical Plant within Bohai Chemical Group are fine, but it’s a bit difficult for state-owned enterprises to get in. Equivalent to it are two factories jointly operated with LG, namely LG Dagu and LG Bohai; there’s also an LG Botian plant that is under construction. There is a high level of talent mobility there; you can submit a resume and get an interview opportunity. But the salary for employees is average; those in middle management can earn around 70,000 to 100,000. There are also joint ventures such as Air Liquide, which offer slightly better conditions (but if you come from the chlor-alkali industry, it may not be suitable for you). A friend also mentioned Lanxing; the company has invested over a billion yuan in Tanggu, but due to the Sino-Singapore Ecological City, it plans to relocate to Dagang.

If no one goes in at Tianchen, then it means either you’re extremely talented, or they’re in a severe shortage of people!
