What are the common causes of heat exchanger leaks?
Leak at the pipe end, leak at the sealing surface

External leaks occur at the large flanges of the tube boxes and the pipe flanges, while internal leaks take place at the heat exchange tubes, at the joints between the heat exchange tubes and the tube sheet, and at the small floating head flanges. Medium corrosion, operational fluctuations (such as temperature and pressure), the quality of maintenance work, and material selection are all factors that can cause leaks.
Is it a plate heat exchanger or a tubular heat exchanger? In plate heat exchangers, leaks are generally caused by failed gasket sealing or damaged plates

Leakage at the flange expansion joint; leakage caused by damage to the heat exchange tubes due to medium corrosion; leakage resulting from loose connections at the bolted joints due to vibration.
