I just performed a simulation of a distillation process using the ChemCAD software, but some people say that the results are not convincing, as design firms these days use Aspen or ProII, while ChemCAD is used very rarely. What do you think of this view?
Each has its advantages; there is no such thing as one being more reliable than the other.
Compared to ChemCAD, ProII is used more in our design institute; our institute recommends the use of ProII.
As long as you know how to use that software, that’s enough; the simulation results should not differ much otherwise, right? Otherwise, some software would have been phased out by now

I think that as long as you know how to use these software programs and have a solid understanding of chemical engineering principles and chemical thermodynamics, you can achieve fairly good results. The quality of a software is primarily determined by the number of databases, the number of users, and the number of module algorithms it provides.
Chemcad seems to be used more in schools, while Aspen\Pro II is more commonly used in design firms and factories. The latter two are generally used for design work.
It seems that no process simulation software dares to offer the same level of quality assurance as equipment calculation software.
If you're a beginner in simulation, which one is easier to get started with?
Tools like knives are just tools; what matters is the person who uses them.
The Aspen database has a more comprehensive set of functions, PROII is easier to get started with, as for Chemcad I haven’t used it much
