This post was last edited by gys1997 on 2010-3-30 21:13. Seeking help: a container for use in a chemical experiment, with an inner diameter of 800 millimeters and a length of 1600 millimeters. Fluorescent lights are installed internally. The inner wall surface is required to be smooth, allowing for diffuse reflection of light. Someone suggested the following solutions, right? 1. If cold-rolled steel is used, simply grinding the inner surface is sufficient; I think that’s a viable option as well. 2. What if hot-rolled steel is used? Since it cannot be sandblasted or polished, how should it be treated?
There are specialized polishing machines: the cylinder is fixed on the workbench, the polishing belt on the machine head is placed against the cylinder, and the workbench is rotated – no problem at all for a diameter of 800 and a height of 1600
Polishing and grinding the inner wall prevents diffuse reflection of light.
It’s impossible to perform sandblasting with an inner diameter of 800 – how is that possible? We have previously done sandblasting on the inner walls of pipes that were even smaller than this
You might sandblast first, and then make the container.
It should be possible to perform sandblasting or shot blasting, of course first the attachments need to be removed.
It can be polished, with a roughness of Ra=0.01 being ideal.
