The so-called blind lifting occurs when lifting operations are constrained due to factors such as extreme distances, great heights, or obstacles, which prevent the crane operator from seeing the object to be lifted directly. In such cases, a lifting supervisor is needed to give instructions using flags, whistles, or gestures; close cooperation between the supervisor and the operators is essential to complete the lifting task, with no room for any mistakes at any stage. Blind lifting imposes high requirements on lifting operations; this method should be avoided whenever possible, and it is hardly used at all in the installation of chemical plants. Internationally, high-quality and safe crane camera systems are commonly used to avoid blind lifting; this not only ensures lifting safety but also increases lifting efficiency by 3% to 4%.
