Part of the reason is the use of small coke ovens; the main issue is the limited availability of high-quality coking coal, as well as an unreasonable mix of coals. Moreover, many steel mills do not require first-class metallurgical coke
The quality of coal used for blending is poor, with a shortage of high-quality coking coal. In addition, strengthen technical management.
People have lost their integrity; inferior coal is passed off as high-quality!
It is best not to compare the quality of coke; as long as it meets the user’s requirements, that is sufficient. If high-quality coke is to be produced, Chinese coking enterprises are capable of doing so. The gap compared to foreign countries is mainly evident in the indicators of ash and sulfur content; the main reason for this is the high level of these elements in the raw coal, which leads to increased costs if attempts are made to reduce them.
Currently, domestic demand is not that stringent, and moreover, coal resources are limited; as a result, the quality of coke produced by larger domestic coking companies remains relatively stable.
Demand determines supply; if everyone needs first-grade coking coal, then it’s likely that no one will produce second-grade coking coal. It’s ultimately due to market reasons.
What does good and bad mean? Should we increase the primary coking coal and fat coal to improve the indicators? Coke that is particularly suitable for blast furnace production is considered good coke!
