In the low-temperature methanol washing process at Dalian University of Technology, there is a methanol rejection pipeline located on the outlet pipeline of the water cooler after the lean methanol pump. I wonder why this pipeline is placed here Are there any process-related considerations?
My understanding: (Similar to the methanol removal position in the Lind process) 1. The installation location is low, allowing for complete removal of methanol. 2. Cooling with water after methanol addition effectively lowers the temperature of the methanol solution, thereby reducing desorption or volatilization. Prevent overpressure in containers or pipelines due to the high volatility of methanol at high temperatures. 3. If methanol enters in the low-temperature area, it acts as a heating element to prevent the pipes from becoming overcooled.
After parking and cyclic regeneration, it is the methanol that has been fully regenerated in the methanol-depleted tank within the system; it is more appropriate to send this methanol to an atmospheric-pressure tank for storage.
