RT. How do I convert Pall rings to the theoretical number of theoretical plates in a packing tower?

Numerically, it is equal to the reciprocal of “the number of theoretical plates per meter of packing”.

Look up the plate height data in the literature; for distillation, there is a wealth of such data available.
For general systems, the HETP value can be set at 0.4; if you need more detailed information, you can refer to the Technical Guide for Modern Packing Towers, which provides empirical values as well as instructions on how to perform the calculations.
