I want to deal with the electrodialysis wastewater from refineries and recover the contaminated oil; what chemicals can be used to reduce the oil content in the treated wastewater and improve its quality? According to literature, PAC and PAM are commonly used, and they can also be used in combination. However, it’s not clear as to how exactly they should be combined or what the dosage should be. Additionally, what are the requirements for the additives tank? Is a dissolution tank necessary? I would appreciate some advice from experts. Thank you first.
PAC is a flocculant, while PAM is a coagulant aid; when used together, they yield a better flocculation effect. Generally, both types of chemicals require a dissolution tank. PAC is easier to dissolve, while PAM is more difficult to dissolve; continuous stirring in one direction for an extended period is needed to achieve complete dissolution, and the concentration used should not be too high (0.5‰ is usually sufficient, depending on the quality of water). Different types of wastewater require different dosages of chemicals; first, determine the levels of SS and oil in the wastewater that needs to be treated
