Both Texaco and E-Gas use coal water slurry as the feed, and both are lined with refractory bricks; Membrane walls are used in dry powder fluidized bed systems. I personally have the following two superficial opinions: 1. Water-coal slurry causes significant wear on the contacting components; therefore, wear-resistant bricks are used as linings, which is also why Texaco burners tend to break down easily ; 2. In the past, gasification was used primarily in coal chemical industries; therefore, as long as gas production was good, little attention was paid to the comprehensive utilization of by-products such as steam and heat energy. However, as more and more gasifiers are being integrated into large systems for cogeneration and IGCC, the steam generated by the membrane wall can be used as a by-product to produce power. Speaking of this, I can’t help but think of the quenching process used in many gasification units; it was probably employed in the early days to cool raw gas and to produce hydrogen through CO reforming. However, I believe that the quenching process is not suitable for large IGCC systems due to the significant loss of steam’s sensible heat. The above is merely to spark discussion; please share your opinions.

Refractory bricks are used primarily to protect against high temperatures. Since the material used on the surface of Texaco’s furnaces is resistant to high pressure but not to high temperatures, there are many temperature monitoring points on its surface. Additionally, refractory bricks help to maintain heat effectively; without them, it would be very difficult for Texaco’s furnaces to reach temperatures of over 1300 degrees.
Hot fireplaces work this way; they store heat.
I understand that high-temperature industrial furnaces all require refractory materials: one type is a brick-lined furnace lining, and the other is a self-supporting furnace lining with water-cooled walls
There is no absolute truth; technology is constantly advancing.
