Due to process requirements, it is necessary to make holes in the T40004 tower used for low-temperature methanol washing in order to raise the level gauge. The material of the tower wall is 0Cr18NI10TI 321; however, this material is not available on site. Can I use 304L as a substitute? What type of welding rod should be used for welding? The pore size is 50 mm, and the medium is methanol rich in H2S; I would appreciate some guidance from those with more experience. Two!
I think it’s better to choose a higher-grade material, such as 316, as that provides more reliability. The welding electrodes used are generally selected based on the chemical composition of the base material, as well as the pressures and temperatures to which it will be exposed
Personally, I recommend choosing the better option over the inferior one – it’s more reliable and gives you more peace of mind!
