In an unattended 10kV substation, an instrument transformer exploded due to design and installation issues. Before it was fixed, the two circuits operated in parallel while the other instrument transformer worked alone. Is it necessary to change this setup to one that requires 24/7 manned supervision? Would it be advisable to make such a change now? And could the personnel on duty be at risk in that case?
If there are problems with the design installation, it should be corrected! Having people on duty won’t solve the problem; it will only get worse if things explode!
