Recently, while reviewing the PID for urea production using the CO2 stripping method, it was indicated next to the high-pressure ammonium hydroxide injector that it must be placed at a height of 19 meters; however, it’s not clear why I would be extremely grateful if experts could offer some guidance!
In high-pressure systems, the material flows due to its own weight. To ensure that the material flows in the intended direction, \"U\"-shaped pipes are used for sealing between the equipment (there is a pressure difference between the four devices in the high-pressure section). To prevent NH3 and CO2 in the high-pressure condenser from leaking into the high-pressure washer through the high-pressure ejector, the ejector is installed at a height of 19 meters.
Which department provided your PID diagram? What is the designed capacity? Let me tell you: this injector must be placed in this specific location; otherwise, the material feeding process will not proceed smoothly. It’s also advisable to install a small balance pipe connected to the synthesis tower, which will make things more efficient and easier to operate. There’s no need to go into too much detail on the theoretical aspects here. It is reported that several plants in China have encountered problems with smooth material feeding due to issues with the injectors, and remedial actions were taken later on.
Some manufacturers have removed the balance tubes from the synthesis tower; it’s not clear why. The installation location should take into account preventing material crystallization and ensuring smooth discharging.
