How is the alkali storage tank protected from corrosion?
Q235A with rubber lining can be used, or carbon steel can be used directly; our company’s lye tanks are made of carbon steel, and with a lime concentration of 15%-30%, they have been in use for over three years without any problems.
Are there any special requirements for the level gauge? Is there heating or stirring inside the alkali tank?
Carbon steel will work; alkalis cause less corrosion to steel. The liquid alkali tanks in our company are made of carbon steel, with an alkali concentration of around 30%, and they have been in use for over ten years.
For a concentration of 50%, carbon steel tanks are used; anti-corrosion measures are necessary, involving the spraying of stainless steel followed by a sealing layer. For lower concentrations, liquid alkali causes little corrosion to carbon steel, so anti-corrosion measures may or may not be required.
Ordinary carbon steel will suffice; when higher temperatures are involved, using carbon steel lined with chlorosulfonated polyethylene allows operation in temperatures ranging from -50 to 135 degrees Celsius
Carbon steel will work; caustic soda does not cause much corrosion to carbon steel, so anti-corrosion measures are not necessary.
