Increase the valve position of the quench water flow control valve, but the quench water flow does not increase. Under the same drainage conditions, the liquid level in the gasifier does not rise, and the liquid level in the water scrubber does not drop. Half an hour later, the flow rate suddenly increased, the liquid level in the vaporization furnace rose, and the liquid level in the wash tower dropped. What is the reason?
In my humble opinion, the cold water filter is clogged.
I think the reason needs to be determined based on subsequent adjustments: when the flow rate of the quench water increases, restore the valve position to its original setting and see if the quench water flow can return to its normal level. If it can, it’s possible that there is blockage in the quench water pipes caused by ash or debris; the location of the blockage could be at the quench water control valve, within the quenching ring, or in the filter. The increase in quench water flow is due to the blockage being cleared again, and since the valve position remains at the high setting it had during the blockage, the quench water flow rises, causing the liquid level in the vaporization furnace to increase while the liquid level in the wash tower decreases.
I think there’s a problem with your control valve; this kind of issue occurs frequently. Gradually increase the opening of the control valve, and then reduce it once it’s at an appropriate level
After increasing the valve opening by two positions, the flow rate of the quench water did not change; in other words, the actual flow rate remained unchanged. This can be seen from the changes in the two liquid levels; after some time, the flow rate increases automatically, confirming that it indeed rises. It can be ruled out that the cause is a clogged quench water filter; it has only been in use for two days.
Why didn’t the chilled water flow control valve work at the beginning? The valve position shown on the control panel may be inaccurate; the valve on-site has started to stick, and it doesn’t adjust properly when tried to be adjusted. This could be related to the valve itself or it might be a problem with the air supply. After operating for a while, the gas supply returned to normal; the on-site valves adjusted to their proper positions, the valve openings increased, the amount of water used for quenching rose, the liquid level in the vaporization furnace increased, while the liquid level in the wash tower decreased. It’s just one person’s opinion; perhaps after making adjustments, you can compare the valve positions on-site with those in the control room.
It has only been running for two days, so it cannot be ruled out that the filter is clogged. This situation is quite common; it can be caused by a stuck control valve position, as well as blocked pipelines or filters.
