The radar level gauge uses a communication-based approach; it worked properly during calibration, and it has a measurement accuracy of a few millimeters. The display also worked correctly when water was introduced into the tank. So why does it keep showing 0 when oil is poured in? Moreover, the radar temperature reading is normal. Please ask an expert to analyze the reason! !
Is there foam or medium vapor inside the tank?
I personally think oil mist is the cause, followed by entering a blind spot. Could you tell me more about the conditions at the site? Information such as the exact height of the tank and the temperature will help me analyze it for you.
Did the poster set the medium to be measured by the radar level gauge as “oil”? I personally think it’s due to the difference in dielectric constants between the two mediums; during calibration, water was selected as the medium, but now the tank contains oil”
Guided wave radar comes with dielectric constant options. The dielectric constant during water measurement changes, as does the dielectric constant of the oil that is mixed in, which makes accurate measurement difficult. The solutions are to remove the oil or to change the dielectric constant.
