How to deal with the color of methanol after soaking MTBE with D-005 catalyst? Can methanol still be used as raw material after the catalyst is dehydrated?
Refining type unit without methanol recovery unit. Looking forward to the answer....

If the methanol soaked in D-005 catalyst is colored, it is best to put it in barrels and send it out for processing, and do not enter the methanol recovery unit.; After the catalyst is dehydrated, the methanol can be fed into the methanol recovery unit, and the recovered methanol can be used as raw material.
The catalyst is washed with water (weakly acidic desalted water) and then washed with alcohol. The methanol solution after alcohol washing can be recycled in the methanol recovery sheet. It will not affect the color of MTBE, otherwise colored methanol will not be easy to handle.
Our unit does not have a methanol recovery system.
Without a methanol recovery system, it would be difficult and would have the following effects: 1. The water content in dehydrated methanol is high, which will affect the purity of MTBE if used as raw material; 2. During normal production, methanol cannot be recycled, and the remaining C4 methanol will exceed the standard, affecting the quality of the remaining C4 products. 3. The adjustment range of alcohol-to-ene ratio will be limited.
Very well said. Our business is small. The methanol recovery tower was not included in the design. Do you have any experience operating it without a methanol recovery tower? Our alcohol-to-ene ratio is very low and I'm worried about isobutylene self-polymerization. It's not easy to operate.
The color means there are impurities in the device. The methanol washed with alcohol can be recovered through the methanol recovery unit and reused. But in the early days of driving, some devices were too troublesome and were taken away.
