What are the main applications of metal electroplating?
Metal brush plating technology was developed in the 1960s for the repair and protection of metal components. It is an energy-saving, material-saving, and time-saving method of maintenance, and its benefits are particularly significant in the fertilizer industry, where production is continuous, for repairing worn components. Since 1997, our factory has achieved excellent results using this technology to repair worn parts. The working principle of brush plating technology is shown in Figure 1. During brush plating, the negative pole of a dedicated DC power supply is connected to the workpiece; a solution containing the metal to be deposited is applied and brought into contact with the workpiece, moving relative to it (through back-and-forth as well as rotational motions). At this point, the metal ions in the plating solution move toward the working surface under the influence of an electric field; after discharge, they crystallize and deposit on the workpiece, forming a coating. Over time, this deposited layer gradually thickens until it reaches the desired thickness, thereby meeting the requirements for refining and improving the physical and chemical properties of the metal surface.
Brush plating technology is mainly used to apply coatings to small areas and to achieve high-performance coatings, to repair wear on large workpieces, and to improve the surface properties of intermediate products in order to meet processing requirements. For example, repairing a worn workpiece to restore its original dimensions ; Repairing the defects in slot-plated products is a complement to the slot-plating process ; For damaged or maintenance-needed buildings, sculptures, statues, cultural relics, etc., plating can be applied directly onto the original items ; Copper is applied by brushing on the surface of steel to provide shielding against carburization and nitridation, etc. The plating thickness in brush plating ranges from 1 um to 1 mm; it may be thicker when repairing grooves and scratches.
It is mainly used to repair the surface layer.
Electroplating brush technology is mainly used for repairing parts; it’s best if the parts are of a rotatable shape, and their size should not be too large Generally, this method can be used to repair wear on journal surfaces; it is applicable only to uniform wear and cannot be used to repair cases of massive material loss.
