During pressure testing of equipment and pipelines, what is the allowable pressure drop?
During the pressure test, the pressure is increased slowly to the test pressure and held at that level for 10 minutes; thereafter, the pressure is reduced to the design pressure and held there for 30 minutes. The test is considered successful if the pressure remains constant and there are no leaks. Therefore, the test pressure required for true compliance must be stable, with no significant variations. There should be basically no change on the dial, and the value of the change cannot be read directly.
