How can a pressure relief valve be described more effectively? Is it a pressure control valve? Is it still a flow control valve? Or a remote-controlled valve? Thank you! Can’t figure it out!
The pressure relief valve primarily controls the constant outlet pressure of the main valve; the outlet pressure of the main valve does not change as a result of changes in the inlet pressure, nor does it change due to variations in the flow rate at the main valve’s outlet. Suitable for industrial water supply, fire protection water supply, and domestic water pipeline systems. It is sometimes also used in compressed air pipelines.
I’d also like to ask: since a pressure relief valve can maintain a constant pressure downstream of it, is it then unnecessary to install a pressure gauge?

A pressure reducing valve is a specialized device designed to automatically lower the operating pressure in a pipeline; it can reduce the high water pressure in the pipeline ahead of the valve to the level required in the pipeline behind the valve. Pressure relief valves are widely used in high-rise buildings, areas with excessively high water pressure in urban water supply networks, mines, and other settings, to ensure that all water usage points in the supply system receive an appropriate water pressure and flow rate. Given that the rate of water loss and waste is almost directly proportional to the water pressure in the supply system, pressure-reducing valves can improve the operating conditions of the system and help save water; statistics show that their water-saving effect is approximately 30%. Design selection: 1) The model and specifications of the pressure relief valve should be determined through calculations based on factors such as the pressure before the valve, pressure difference, flow rate, and properties of the medium; they should not be determined solely based on the diameter of the pipes upstream or downstream. 2) When a single pressure reducing valve cannot meet the pressure reduction requirements, two pressure reducing valves should be used in series. 3) Pressure gauges should be installed at both ends of the pressure relief valve; a filter should be placed before the valve, and a safety valve should be installed after it. To facilitate maintenance, a bypass pipe and bypass valve should also be provided.
