Airtightness testing is mainly used to check whether the container leaks, while vacuum pumping tests are intended to assess the effectiveness of vacuum creation. You think, what if the container doesn’t leak, but there’s a problem with the vacuum pump itself?
It depends on what system is used; a positive pressure system isn’t necessary. In the case of a vacuum system, we use He gas for testing, and there is no need to create a vacuum.
