What is special about the welder certification for pressure pipelines and pressure vessels? I’m referring to the welding certificates for welders working on ordinary welded structures. I’ve noticed that the welding certificates required for workers who weld pipes during construction in many chemical industries are similar to those of welders who weld doors and windows in street hardware stores; I think that’s not right. Pressure pipes belong to special equipment, and the welding requirements for them should be very high. The certificates and certification procedures for such work should be quite specific. Suggestion: Check the welder’s certificate for pressure vessels; this certificate is similar to that for pressure pipelines. If the three are identical, then that confirms it. If it differs significantly from the welder’s certificate for pressure vessels, then there may be an issue with the pipeline welder’s certificate.

This certificate was formerly known as the “Boiler and Pressure Vessel Welder Qualification Certificate”; it is now called the “Special Equipment Operator Certificate”. The regulations governing this are outlined in Document No. Guo Jian Zhi Guo 109, titled “Rules for the Examination and Management of Welders Working on Boilers, Pressure Vessels, and Pressure Pipelines”. The validity period of such a certificate is generally 3 years ； 2.
