Construction of Huating methanol project enters final phase

Recently, the construction of the 600,000-ton coal-to-methanol project in Huating, Gansu Province, which involves an investment of 2.899 billion yuan, has entered its final phase. To date, 2.5 billion yuan has been invested in this project; the civil engineering works for the raw coal storage unit, purification facilities, and slurry preparation equipment have been completed. The raw water treatment plant is already in operation, the thermal power boiler has been successfully ignited, and it will be able to generate electricity once connected to the grid in April, with full mechanical completion expected by the end of August.
Huating Zhongxu Coal Chemical will produce qualified methanol in October 2010
The latest update is that last week, Huating Zhongxu managed to initiate the process for methanol production, with stable operation.
