When is material reliability assessment necessary

On-site, it is sometimes necessary to conduct material reliability identification (positive metal identification). I’m not sure when this needs to be done – is it done only when requested by the client? Are there still some standards? Thank you!
In addition to what is specified by standard regulations or requested by the user, it should also be done when one has doubts about the reliability of the material.
First, I would like to explain a concept: what we generally refer to as PMI has gradually become a synonym for portable spectrometers. The standards do not specify when PMI must be carried out; even when retesting of materials is required, PMI is not necessarily necessary. This is unless the user specifies that PMI is to be conducted. PMI is very convenient; you can type it however you want. The device has a power of 30W; if the probe is not properly protected, it can emit radiation that is harmful to humans.
Material reliability assessment: It is reasonable for the client to require it in theory. But it still depends on the contract requirements. The manufacturing unit can be asked to provide samples of the same material, or samples can be taken directly from the part itself, in order to retest the mechanical and chemical properties of the material; the costs can be agreed upon through negotiation. :)
