The new hydrogen compressor in our hydrorefining unit is a reciprocating compressor with three stages of compression. There is a sudden increase in the exhaust pressure at the first stage; after unloading, it returns to normal once loading resumes. Could experts help analyze the reason for this?
By how much has it increased? Is there any change in the discharge pressure at stage 2? Check whether the intake and exhaust valves at stage 2 are functioning properly. Is there a filter at the compressor inlet?
Is the secondary intake valve a bit clogged?
The intake valve breaks easily, so it should be checked more often!
It might be a problem with the unloader; it will work properly after moving it twice.
What the friend on the 5th floor said makes sense. The problems present are: 1. Failure of the unloader; 2. Jamming of the secondary intake and exhaust valves. Recommendations for resolution: 1. Before starting the unit, move the load regulator and check the operation of each valve. If they do not move smoothly or are jammed, have a blacksmith fix them before starting the machine. 2. If any issues are detected with the instrument air lines of the load regulator or with the transmission of instrument signals, contact the instrument maintenance personnel in advance to resolve them before starting up the equipment. Eliminate problems before startup to ensure smooth production.
It’s possible that there is a leak in the secondary intake valve, causing the gas from the secondary stage to flow back into the primary stage.

If the secondary pressure does not change, it indicates that the valve at the secondary stage is damaged, resulting in poor compression efficiency at that stage. Additionally, the air valves of the new hydrogen compressor are wear-prone parts that need to be replaced frequently.
