I’m currently learning about *apsen. In the Databrowser-Setup-Specifications-Global-Free Water section, there are the following options: Yes, No, Dirty water. I would like to ask experts: under what circumstances should each of these three options be chosen? Thank you, haha
Yes: Calculated based on free water, that is, by considering vapor, liquid, and water phases, with the hydrocarbon content in water being ignored. NO: Free water calculation is not performed. DIRTYwater: Free water calculation is performed; hydrocarbons in the water cannot be ignored

Free water can be used when you don’t care about the composition of the aqueous phase; for example, when the alkane phase is highly immiscible with the aqueous phase, you don’t need to know exactly how much alkane is present in the water or what the components of that alkane are. In devices used for separating the phases, attention is usually focused only on how much water remains in the recovered alkane, without concern for how much alkane is still in the aqueous phase – that portion is generally discharged as wastewater or recovered by other methods. In such cases, free water can be used. However, it cannot be used when you need to analyze its composition; this is the case, for example, in situations related to environmental pollution.
Aspen has far more options for dealing with this issue than ProII, which sometimes makes it difficult to choose.
