Dear experts, may I ask what are the typical pressures for high-pressure, low-pressure, and ultra-low-pressure steam? Are there factories that do not have fixed values for these pressures?
**Standards: Low pressure: 0.1–1.6 MPa; medium pressure: 1.6–10 MPa; high pressure: 10–100 MPa; ultra-high pressure: above 100 MPa. According to the standards set out in GB150 and GB151, pressure vessels are classified into three categories: low pressure (0.1–1.6 MPa), medium pressure (1.6–10 MPa), and high pressure (10–100 MPa); ultra-high pressure refers to pressures above 100 MPa. However, this is merely one criterion for classifying pressure vessels, representing a general range. Steam used in various pressure vessels must operate within this range; for example, in low-pressure vessels, the steam pressure must be between 0.1–1.6 MPa. The specific operating pressure must comply with the requirements specified in the design drawings, and it is divided into operating pressure and design pressure. Based on the steam pressure generated by the boiler, they are classified as low-pressure boilers (P≤2.5Mpa, T≤400℃), medium-pressure boilers (2.5Mpa<P≤6Mpa, 400℃<T≤450℃), high-pressure boilers (6Mpa<P≤14Mpa, 460℃<T≤540℃), ultra-high-pressure boilers (14Mpa<P≤17Mpa, 540℃<T≤570℃), sub-critical pressure boilers (P≤17–18Mpa, 540℃<T≤570℃), and super-critical pressure boilers.
Generally, it should be classified according to the pressure rating of the boiler; as mentioned above, factories usually use boilers with relatively low pressures, with few medium-pressure ones in use.
The pressure used in ordinary factories is generally below 1.6 MPA; therefore, a steam pressure of less than 0.3 MPA is sufficient for such applications. If a higher pressure is required, the equipment must be replaced.
