I would like to ask those who conduct analyses: how much sample is generally required for performing the following analysis tests? Density (20°C), Refractive index (70°C), Aniline point, S content, N content, Alkaline nitrogen content, C content, H content, Residue on ignition, C7 insolubles, Viscosity (50°C), Viscosity (100°C), Boiling range, Molecular weight distribution, Acid value. The poster should first clarify what kind of sample it is, including the sample’s condition and its general physical specifications. If one is not very familiar with oil analysis, they simply won’t know what to say about what you’ve asked. Presumably, the poster is analyzing petroleum products such as diesel; with so many analysis parameters, a relatively large amount of sample is required. For repeated parallel analyses, the sample volume should be preferably between 8 and 10 liters. Sampling should be divided into four 2–3 liter glass sample bottles according to different analysis items, and stored at as low a temperature as possible in the dark. Before sample analysis, return the sample to room temperature, stir it well, and then take a sample.
Weight ratio must definitely be considered, and requirements should be set based on the minimum value for that weight ratio

2# qugd Thank you very much. I’ve basically figured it out now. I mainly work with paraffin oils; for the first three components, 50g is usually sufficient. For n-heptane insolubles, 50g is required, 20g for metals, and very little is needed for the other analyses.
The actual amount taken during sample analysis is a different concept from the sampling amount. When transferring samples, it is necessary to use the sample being analyzed to wet and clean the relevant containers, measuring devices, etc.; sufficient excess amount of sample must be taken.
Regardless of the type of test, we generally take a sample of 1L.
