We have a Siemens Y-LINK on site – what is its purpose? Is it different from the ET200 module? Thank you
Y-LINK is used to convert 2 DP buses of a redundant system into 1 DP bus. Since Siemens’ redundant system features 2 DP buses, other DP devices cannot be connected to both of these buses at the same time; therefore, a Y-LINK is needed to convert the buses of the redundant system into one single bus, thereby allowing DP devices to be integrated into the redundant control system. When using Y-LINKs, it should be noted that each Y-LINK has a byte limit and cannot be connected indefinitely.
