Production process of soft magnetic ferrite devices

After more than 40 years of development, the manufacturing processes for soft magnetic ferrites have become increasingly mature and stable, with the differences between various manufacturers narrowing down. Even aspects such as formulations and sintering processes no longer involve many technical secrets. However, achieving large-scale, stable production of high-quality soft magnetic ferrites presents significant challenges. There are a wide variety of grades of soft magnetic ferrite materials, with different shapes and sizes for cores, and customers have ever higher demands regarding quality. In actual inspections of the delivered cores, it is not uncommon these days to find customers who require \"zero defects\" in samples; even minor quality variations can sometimes lead to bulk returns. Delivery times are also decreasing, and core manufacturers must reduce inventory levels in order to control costs and minimize operational risks (which, to some extent, shortens the production and technical preparation periods). All these factors pose numerous difficulties in large-scale production. Overcoming these difficulties is even more important than developing new high-grade materials. The key issues in large-scale production arise in various stages such as material preparation, molding, sintering, grinding, and packaging, and process technology as well as quality control must be integrated throughout these stages. This article explores the production processes and quality control methods for soft magnetic ferrites on a large scale.
