The standards specify that the design pressure only needs to be greater than the operating pressure; special cases are considered separately. So, what is the typical ratio used when determining the design pressure relative to the operating pressure?
The design pressure is generally taken as 1.1 times the operating pressure; for different operating conditions, the provisions in the HG standards can be referred to.
The selection of design pressure shall comply with the provisions of GB150; it is generally in the range of 1.05 to 1.1 times, and may be increased in some cases. When the working pressure is low, a higher value is taken; when it is high, a lower value is used. Additionally, factors such as whether a safety valve or explosion relief device is installed must also be taken into account.
2# The design pressure for Jiangyin Feihong Huaji HG is outdated and lacks a scientific basis. Now, the design pressure is determined based on the system conditions, taking into account the location of the equipment within the system as well as the maximum pressure that may occur under various operating conditions.

Check the relevant standards; the design pressure for some liquid hydrocarbons must be determined based on their saturated vapor pressure at a certain temperature. So we also need to consider the operating medium and process requirements.
Recommended values are provided in both the 150 and HG standards; these can be used as a reference in normal circumstances. In special cases, however, a case-by-case analysis may be necessary
