Did you make a mistake, or is that indeed how it is? If it was you who made the mistake, should that character for \"time\" be the character for \"is\" instead? Pulse signals are, in a broad sense, also analog signals; a signal is considered a digital signal only when it is capable of representing numbers.

A signal that changes continuously is an analog signal. A digital signal, also known as a switching signal, has only two states: 0 or 1.

An analog pulse signal is an analog signal: for example, the variation in the pulse frequency is used to reflect changes in the analog value, or the duty cycle of the pulse is used to reflect such changes. Digital pulses, which undergo discontinuous changes, are digital signals: for example, when a ST3000 pressure transmitter is connected in DE mode, the pulses from the IRIG-B(dc) output port of the clock system
Pulses are a distinct type of signal; they are neither digital nor analog. As long as the appropriate card is selected, it will work.
Personal understanding: If the rising edge of a pulse signal rises gradually, or if its falling edge decreases gradually; or if the rising edge rises gradually while the falling edge disappears instantaneously; or if the rising edge rises instantaneously while the falling edge disappears gradually, in all these cases there is a continuous change over time, and such signals should generally be classified as analog signals, such as various types of sawtooth wave pulses. If both the rising edge and the falling edge occur and disappear instantaneously, without changing continuously over time, then they should be classified as digital signals, such as rectangular pulses.
Pulse signals have their own characteristics; therefore, a PI card is selected for use in DCS systems.

I agree with the view in post 8; according to the information available on the DeltaV system, pulse cards (multifunctional cards) are not listed under the categories of AI and DI card types. Additionally, for “DI”, the English term is “Discrete Input”, which means “discrete input”; therefore, it is more accurate to refer to it as a discrete value. We also often call it a “switching value”. And “digital quantity” is generally considered to be the English term “Digital”; anything that enters a computer must have been “digitized,” which means it involves quantities that typically suffer from precision losses.
