As the title suggests, I intend to construct a tower for corrosive solutions with a diameter of 3.6 meters and a height of around 15 meters. Considering factors such as strength, heat insulation, and cost, which material would be suitable – PP, PE, or fiberglass? Or what are their respective advantages and disadvantages?
Fiberglass makes it easier to carry out repairs in the future.
I agree with the view from the second floor; it is recommended to use fiberglass, as it is corrosion-resistant, strong, and pressure-resistant. It is also much more heat-resistant than PP and PE. It’s sufficient to purchase resin in bulk for maintenance purposes, as this makes repairs easier
The key is to see whether fiberglass can resist corrosion by the processing medium; as long as corrosion is not a problem, fiberglass should be given priority!
Fiberglass is the preferred choice. Fiberglass reinforced plastic features low weight, high strength, a wide range of corrosion resistance, and good design flexibility.
Thank you all for sharing your insights; I would like to ask more detailed questions. As far as I know, PP plastic and PE seem to have better insulation properties, which apparently can help save several kilowatts in heating costs. Also, in terms of cost, what is the order of PP plastic, PE, and fiberglass?
