Please explain in detail which types of valves can be used to regulate flow

Among the commonly used valves, globe valves are used to regulate flow, while ball valves and gate valves are generally used for opening and closing.

Speaking specifically of the valve body in control valves, most of them are of the globe valve type; their sealing mechanism ensures that their regulation performance is the best among other types of valves! Valves such as ball valves and butterfly valves are claimed to be capable of adjustment, but the effect of this adjustment is far from satisfactory; there is no real precision in it.
