Let me say a few words: ethyl chloride is produced by the esterification, chlorination, and dehydration of phosphorus pentoxide; during this reaction, waste gases such as sulfur, sulfur dioxide, and hydrogen sulfide are generated, along with wastewater as well
It is prepared using phosphorus pentasulfide, ethanol, chlorine, and sodium hydroxide as the main raw materials, with pyridine as a catalyst, through processes of esterification, chlorination, alkaline hydrolysis, washing, and separation by layering; All three types of waste are handled: the gaseous waste containing HCL is absorbed with water to produce industrial hydrochloric acid; the other gaseous wastes mainly consist of H2S, SO2, and sulfides. H2S is absorbed using sodium hydroxide to yield Na2S, which is used in the alkaline treatment process. The exhaust gases are absorbed through a three-stage scrubber tower ; The solid waste is sulfur; residual ethyl chloride is extracted by distillation, and industrial sulfur is obtained through sublimation and crystallization ; The wastewater is primarily problematic due to high levels of total phosphorus and total salts; salt is recovered using a multi-effect evaporator, while phosphorus removal is carried out in biological treatment units ; The cost of wastewater treatment is quite high.
