Is it promising to switch from instrumentation to building electrical work? I studied automation at school. When I first came to this company, I intended to apply for a position in the electrical field; unfortunately, I didn’t end up working in that area but rather in another one. I’ve been here for almost 2 years now, and I have learned a bit about instruments, but I’m actually more interested in electrical matters, especially those related to building electricity and power supply and distribution. Plus, lately the company doesn’t have many projects, so those of us in the instrumentation field are very idle. I want to switch to working in building electrical systems. I talked to my boss about it, and he didn’t say no to me. However, there are four people in the company who work in electrical fields, while there are only two in the instrumentation field. My colleague and I are both extremely bored due to the lack of projects, so I think I’d better leave and find a construction company where I can work on building electrical design. Most of my free time is spent reading books on electrical systems, and I also keep learning about instrumentation. But I think electrical engineering is what I really love. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to switch from working with instruments for 2 years to pursuing a career in electrical engineering – does it have a promising future? I wonder if there is a future in building electrical systems and power supply and distribution?
There should be one! As far as I know, there are many devices related to electrical automation in the field of construction! For example, lifting, measurement data, drilling machines – all of these require your expertise!
