The simple tower calculation is a reference. If you have no experience and are completely new to the design, you can use its results as the initial value. However, its accuracy will become unrealistic as the material system becomes more complex, and it must be credible based on strict calculations.
Shortcut calculation has prerequisites. For example, it can only be used for hydrocarbon systems, and the relative volatility from the top of the tower to the bottom of the tower is a fixed value, etc. This is impossible in practice! Therefore, the shortcut calculation can only be used as the initial value for strict calculation and as a reference!
